Illnesses are a common problem in modern society, it doesn’t allow you to go to work or to school, you don’t feel well, simply it’s very annoying. In the advanced countries with good medical care it’s not that big problem, but in under developed countries, for example like those in Africa, people have to go hundreds of kilometers to visit the doctor, this is serious thing, especially if it’s an emergency.

Most common illness in these times is cold. You wake up in the morning, u have a headache, scratchy nose and a stuffy nose. If you don’t feel very bad you can just stay in bed, take some paralen and drink lots of warm fluids. When you feel that it is serious it’s better to visit the doctor. He is more competent to determine what have you caught. You will make an appointment, come to the doctor’s office and you will end in examining room. Doctor will check you temperature, make diagnose and he will give you a prescription for medicine. It’s better to visit the doctor because you can have more serious diseases like flu.

More serious illnesses are diseases like tumor or cancer. You can’t recognize this at first sight, only doctor through a series of tests can find what is it and how can remove it. You often have to stay in hospital for treatment and even surgery. These are very serious diseases and they can cause death. Also there are other dangerous things like heart attack when your heart stop beating and you need to get to the hospital as fast as possible.

You must be very careful, mostly when you are doing sports of some sort. You must try to avoid injuries. They can also be very serious. Smaller things can cover just a simple plaster but when serious stuff happen, like broken legs, you must call an emergency. In Slovak Republic and Czech Republic it’s 155 or 112.

Everyone should know about first aid and how to do it. It can save lives of other people and don’t help hardly injured people is even punishable as a criminal act.
