Literature is a part of art which includes novels, short stories, biographies, drama and poetry. Writers have a gift to put their ideas on paper and brilliantly create a story. When a book is well-written, it is a joy to read and hard to put down. We know books for a very long time. At the beginning, books were used mainly for variety of historical records. Later we began to use them for entertainment, relaxation and learning or education. In our life, there appear many various kinds of literature. In my point of view, young people are not interested in reading books in comparison with the consumption of TV culture. They rather prefer modern technologies, such as internet, television and mobile phones, which are more interesting for the young generation. Many books have been created into films.

Reading: is another source of knowledge and culture. When we read for pleasure, we usually pick up a book of fiction, such as novels (romantic, historical, ...), short stories, long stories or poetry. We can buy books, or we can borrow them in a library. If we need information, it’s good to have various dictionaries, encyclopaedias and atlases close at hand. By reading books, you can pick up new vocabulary. I like reading.

I’m interested in almost all books, but I prefer books, which I need to read for school. My favourite books are Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, etc. I don’t often listen to the radio. I prefer listening to my favourite CDs. I'm not a TV addict. Sometimes I don’t watch TV for 2 days. I don’t have time for watching it.

Libraries and books: The largest library in Britain in the British Library, which automatically receives a copy of each new book published in Britain. Penguin Books are the best known publishers of paperbacks. Almost each town, village or school has own library where you can find books from your field of study. It is very  useful mostly nowadays, because most of books cost a lot.

There are more genres: for example: Novels (romány) – Da Vinci Code, Short stories (poviedky) – Martin Kukučín – Rysavá  jalovica, Biographies – about lives of famous people, Drama – writer Shakespeare – his plays – Romeo and Juliet, Poetry – E.A.Poe – The Raven.

Music exists from our youth. The first people imitated music from nature. When people began to talk, it was the first step to singing. They sang at work, when they were sad, happy or at various rituals. Music became the art because it provides people a satisfaction and an enjoyment. Gradually musical instruments began to start up, what made musicians’ work easier. Therefore, we know the musical art wherein human voice isn’t necessary, for example jazz. Nowadays music arts are known, wherein artist use more sounds than singing. It is called ‘techno’ and ‘house’. Music is mixed by computer or special equipments. I am fond of this music and in my opinion, it is the music of new generation. However, we know the music arts, in which human voice is necessary, for example opera. Further, we know rock, country, blues, folk, reggae and classical music. Classical music is one of European treasures. Names like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach or Chopin sounds familiar to every European. Popular music is consumed by masses. The most popular was the British quartet the Beatles. They produced many huge hits and their songs changed the direction of music forever. There are many festivals, music awards or concerts, organized all, it is an opportunity for the fans of specific music arts to meet. In my opinion, music art is an art consumed by the most people all over the world.

Music: is a collection of sounds. It can be produced by instruments, people’s voices, nature or a combination of these things. While some music sounds good to some people, to other it might sound like an annoying noise. People knew basic rhythm long before they used it to make music. First music was beating with sticks on a hollow tree trunk. One of the first instrument was oboe in Egypt, later harp in Greek. For many years Church was the only real source of music.

Classic music: the most popular instrument was the lute – it looked like guitar, later people developed many kinds of instruments and composers composed widely music for both – orchestra and soloists. Famous composers were – Handel, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Puccini…
Modern Music: it has spread all over the world. Singers and musicians are the new idols of young people – they copy them in the way of their clothes, haircut.
