HEALTH CARE
A. Human body consists of bony skeleton and muscles. There are 3 parts: the head, trunk (trup) and limbs (končatiny). The head, which is partly covered by hair, contains the brain- it is the centre of nervous system and the face. The main parts of the face are: forehead, nose cheeks (líca), temples (spánky), chin (brada), mouth, lips, ears, eyes (eye lids=viečka, eye lashes=riasy, eye brows=obočie). Main parts of mouth are lips, teeth which are set in gums (ďasná) and tongue. During our life we have two sets of teeth-milk and permanent teeth. Head is connected with trunk by neck. The main parts of the trunk are: shoulders, breasts, belly/stomach, back, bottom/buttock, hips (boky), and waist. Limbs are arms and legs. Arm consists of upper arm, elbow, forearm (predlaktie), wrist, hand which consist of 4 fingers, 1 thumb, palm (dlaň) and nails. Leg consist of thigh (stehno), knee, shin (holeň), calf (lýtko), ankle (členok), and foot which consist of heel (päta), instep (priehlavok), sole (chodidlo) and 5 toes. Human body consists of flesh, muscles, bones, skin and complexion (pleť), nerves, vessels (cievy) with blood, fat. The movement of the body is produced by expansion and contraction of muscles. Internal organs are: brain, heart, lungs, kidneys (obličky), liver, intestines (vnútornosti) and stomach. Human skeleton consist of 206 bones: skull (lebka), backbone/spine, ribs, joints (kĺby), pelvis (panva) and other bones.

B. Medical care of any type in our country is paid 20sk for one visit. If we feel ill or if we have an accident, we go to the Health Centre, Policlinic, and Hospital or to some Private Doctor. There are various types of medical treatment for our different types of troubles. Doctor may ask you to strip to the waist before he/she examines your chest and throat. They check your blood pressure, feel the pulse. Sometime we may X-ray our lungs or bones. Doctors usually prescribe some medicines to us- pills, antibiotics, ointments (masť). We usually go to see our doctor when we do not feel well or have a temperature. We can suffer from various illnesses beginning with common children diseases such as measles (osýpky), mumps. Usually we suffer from common infections such as cold, flu, and angina. In such cases we usually stay at home in bed, drink herbal teas, take pills, drops or vitamins and after a week or two we feel well again. However the situation may sometimes be more serious and need special treatment in the hospital, for example heart attack, breaking an arm or leg, poisoning etc.

C. It is true that prevention is better than a cure. In other words, the best way to cure yourself of a disease is not to catch it. We should try to live a healthy way of life, which means we should have a good proportion of work to leisure time, we should sleep at least 7 hours. We should practice sports, at least swim or go for walks, we should eat healthy food with lots of vitamins, and we shouldn’t smoke and drink too much alcohol. Generally speaking we should lead such a way of life to keep our mind and body in a prefect state and balance.

D.
Most kinds of medicine begin when you are ill. Preventive medicine begins when you are well. The idea is very simple. If you make your body strong and healthy, then you will not become ill. There are three ways to do this:
1.  Try to eat fresh fruit and vegetable, brown bread, fish, white meat. Try not to eat chocolate, chips, hamburgers, food in tins and packets.
2.  Exercise: the best kind of exercise is aerobic. That means it makes you breathe more oxygen. But exercise is only good for you if you do it for more than 20 minutes and you do it at least three times a week. There are several different kinds of aerobic exercise. These include: jogging, swimming, walking, cycling.
3.  Relaxation: it is important to eat well and exercise. But it is also important to relax. That’s because relaxation is the opposite of stress. It helps the body to rest and repair itself.
4.  Vaccination

E. When you want to be treated by doctor for free you have to have a health insurance. If you don’t have it, you have to pay for everything. And also when you have the health insurance you don’t have to pay whole price for drugs.
There are various types of doctors who treat various diseases and disorders. They are dentists, surgeons, interns, ophthalmologists (oční), pediatricians, psychiatrists, dermatologists, orthopedics, ear and throat specialists etc.
