Communication is one of the most important parts in people´s lives because life without it would be impossible. Even newborns can communicate with their environment and alter they learn how to speak because speaking is the natural feature of everybody.

Nowadays communication is becoming more and more essential because information moves the world. Learning foreign languages belongs to everyday life and more and more people start to study languages such as English, German, French, Spanish or Russian. What is more foreign languages have become obligatory subjects for children even  at Primary schools. This fact proves that we cannot do without mastering one foreign language at least. This period is characterised by travelling from place to place, from one country to another and this calls for a good command in foreign languages. We have a lot of possiblities to get to know new countries, people and cultures but it is not possible without learning  foreign languages. The saying that as many languages you can speak as many times you are a human being is well- known all over the world. People start studying foreign languages for several reasons. Some people are very keen on travelling, others need a foreign language in their occupation. People who often go abroad on business meetings cannot afford not to study any foreign language. But people who work in research need knowledge in foreign languages too because there are ltos of good quality books in foreign languages and not all of them are translated into Slovak. Some people study foreign languages because they are forced to do it as they get used to living in a foreign country. Everybody has his own reasons for studying foreign languages.

On the whole it should be said that studying foreign languages opens the gate to the world, new people, countries and it also gives a lot of opportunities how to improve and make our lives more effective, better and itneresting.
-  the importance of speaking English is a sentence there is no doubt about
-  it has always been advantageous to be able to speak foreign langauges, although the possiblities to test these abilities in a foreign country were rather limited in the past
-  with our entering the European Union, the importance of mastering foreign languages has considerably increased
-  Europe without its restricting boundaries is going to be accessible for its citizens and the chances to travel, work or even live anywhere in new Europe are much higher.
-  English is definitely one of the most common language used when people of various nationalities get together.
-  English has the advantage of wide geographical distribution , it is the native language of many people in the world, it is the second language of further thousands and many more people all over the world leran English as a foreign langauge
-  Speaking English is becoming one fo the most important pre-requisities when looking for a good job
