Position and people:
Prague lies slightly to the north of central Bohemia. The center is situated in the valley of the Vltava River and its tributaries.
Prague is home to 1,267,449 residents. According to the 2011 census, about 14% of the city inhabitants were foreigners, the highest proportion in the country. Most foreigners living in Prague are citizens of Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, Vietnam and other countries.
Interesting places:
We can see many interesting places in Prague. These interesting place include churches and chapels throughout Prague which is not little. Among the most famous churches and chapels include St. Vitus Cathedral, Church of St. Nicholas also Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. We can also find various monasteries and palaces, such as the Strahov Monastery, Monastery of the Augustinian Canons, Czernin Palace and the Wallenstein Palace in Prague. Among the buildings designed for education and culture among the Carolinum, which is the oldest university college, Rudolfinum, which is the building in which are held important concerts or to Prague big ZOO. If you want to see for example some play or opera, you can go to National theatre which is very popular or if you want to visit some museum you should go to National museum which is very know. Every person who is in Prague must see Charles bridge, Oldtown Hall or Vyšehrad castle.
Schools and universities:
There are plenty of primary and secondary schools as in other cities in the Czech Republic in Prague. Prague is very popular to students from the Czech Republic and abroad thanks to the academies, colleges and universities, which are located in Prague. Famous academy, which is in Prague as the Police Academy of the Czech Republic or the Academy of Fine Arts. Universities in Prague as the College of Economics, Czech Technical University and the most famous Charles University.
Theatres, cinemas, museum etc.:
As I have mentioned earlier, and the most famous theatre in Prague’s National Theatre, but we can also visit Prague and many other smaller theatres, such as the Estates Theatre, Theatre Traffic light or Vinohrady Theatre. If someone wants to see a movie, he has a choice of many cinemas in all Prague. Among the best known are Slavic House Cinema, Lucerna Cinema or Cinema City Flora. And if people want to go for the experience and see something new, you can visit some of the museums in Prague. As I’ve already mentioned, the best known is the National Museum, but also the National Technical Museum, the Jewish Museum or the National Gallery.
Transport:
The public transport infrastructure (PID, Prague Integrated Transport) consists of a heavily used integrated transport system of Prague Metro (lines A, B, and C – its length is 65 km with 61 stations in total), Prague tram system, Prague buses, funiculars, and six ferries. Prague has one of the highest rates of public transport usage in the world with 1.2 billion passenger journeys per year. Prague has about 130 bus lines (numbers 100–299) and 22 tram lines (numbers 1–26). There are also three funiculars, one on Petřín Hill, one on Mrázovka Hill and a third at the Zoo in Troja. All services have a common ticketing system, and are run by the Prague Public Transport Company (Transport Company of capital city Prague a. s.).
Taxi services make pick-ups on the streets or operate from regulated taxi stands. The main flow of traffic leads through the centre of the city and through inner and outer ring roads. The city forms the hub of the Czech railway system, with services to all parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. The railway system links Prague with major European cities. Prague’s main international railway station is Central Station, rail services are also available from other main stations: Masarykovo nádraží, Holešovice and Smíchov. Prague is served by Václav Havel Airport, the biggest airport in the Czech Republic and one of the biggest airports in central and eastern Europe.
