Look at the pictures of couples and groups of people and try to say what their relationship and life is and will be like.

Picture 1: (dvaja starí ľudia na lavičke)

I can see two old people sitting on the bench. Maybe they are husband and wife. They have been together for more than 50 years. They get on very well together. They just relax and spend time with their mates at Bingo.

Picture 2: (mladí zaľúbenci)

I can see a young couple in the picture. They are in love. She looks happy and has flowers – so it means they are getting married very soon. They are planning to build a new house and have 3 children.

Picture 3: (mladí športovci sedia na ihrisku)

I can see a group of young people in the picture. They are friends and classmates. They have just played basketball. They are planning to go to the pub for some drinks.

2 What is your definition of a good relationship between classmates, neighbours, lovers or married couples?

Human relationship describes the way people get on with each other, talk and behave. We know formal relationships, e.g. employer – employee, teacher – student, business partners. And informal relationships, e.g. children – parents, between siblings, married couples, friends, lovers, classmates, neighbours etc.

There are short-term and long-term relationships. Some relationships last forever beginning from early childhood. In family – the most important role for parents is to bring up (raise) their children, to teach them how to behave, how to be polite, to give them basic values.

Normally two people get married because they want to spend their life together, have got similar interests, lifestyle, values etc. The reasons for divorce are: alcohol, drugs, gambling, financial problems, cheating etc.

What are your parents´ fears for you? What is the relationship between you and your parents, you and your siblings like?

I have got a very good relationship with my parents. They let me go out with friends and spend holiday with my boyfriend. But they are sometimes afraid because there are many dangers around us: drugs, alcohol, bad friends, teenage pregnancy, early marriage etc. But I think I am responsible and I know how to behave.

I have also good relationship with my siblings. We share housework duties. I usually do:.................. and my brother/sister does.............................

My sister is a real friend for me. I can tell her everything.

Describe your best friend. What do you like about him/her?

Friendship is a relationship between people who have something in common, spend a lot of time together, help each other. Friends are people who laugh together, cry together, speak about everything and share secrets. True friends are always here for you. Some friendships last a short time, others for our whole life. I have got such a friend. Her/his name is..................

What is the attitude of our society towards the disabled, drug-addicted or homeless people like?

Many people have prejudice against the disabled. But I think it´s because they don´t have enough information. Some disabled people are brilliant thinkers, great artists, singers and sportsmen. There are even Paralympics Games – Olympic Games for disabled people.

We can see many homeless and drug addicted people everywhere nowadays. They are in front of supermarkets, churches and shopping centres. They ask people for money and food. Many people become homeless because they are unemployed, or they are divorced or they came back from the prison and don´t have anywhere to live or stay. But most of them are alcohol and drug addicted people. Me, personally, I don´t judge them. Nobody knows his/her own future.

3 You would like to do some community/charity work and you want to persuade your best friend to be involved in as well. Characterise the group of people (the disabled, erderly, homeless....) you would like to care for and the actvities you would like to organise for them.

I´d like to help in an orphanage, because I´m sorry about children without parents. I´d work there in my free time and at the weekends with my best friend, who likes children too. We could help to organise different sporting events, like: football match, running, swimming etc. Or we can play theatre with my classmates for them. On the 6th December we´d come with sweets as Santa Claus. We can also organise a student party at school and the collected money will be used for children too.
