Examples and Ideals téma

As human beings, we are similar to each other, but as individuals we are different from each other. Each is a unique personality, having both positive qualities and negative qualities. We have been influenced by our families, schoolmates, friends. Some influences have been positive, others have been negative.

Our parents were our first role models. They taught as to be polite and friendly. We were taught to greet and respect people, and help to other people. Later whend we started going to school we learned to be tolerant, patient and self-disciplined, but also determined and hard-working. These qualities are necessary if we want to be successful. At school we learned how to compromise with others. We also learned to share our ideas with others. For some of us our teachers became our role models and helped us to deal with problems and overcome difficulties.

When we grew, we became more and more understand of what is good and what is bad. Now we hope we are able to see the difference between polite and rude behaviour, to see the difference between people with high moral standards and those who live without these standards.

The teenage years are perhaps the most important period in the development of our personalities. They have some ideals that their parents and teachers taught them, but they still look for other idols – peope they can copy and follow. Because teenagers love music, movies and sport, they can choose people they read about in newspapers and magazines, like pop singers, movie stars and famous sportsmen. Younger teenagers often idolize celebrities and try to imitate them in clothing, hairstyles and lifestyles.

Some celebrities live lives that the most of parents don´t support. Rich and famous celebrities ignore the fact that what they do can influence their fans negatively. Some celebrities are drug or alcohol addicted, their behaviour is wild, they don´t respect people around them and they thinks they are better than others. Some young people follow in their footsteps, falling into addictions, alcoholism and partying, not realizimg that they don´t have the money for alcohol or drug treatment facilities.

On the other hand there are some famous people who are positive role models. These are the ones who have worked really hard. Some organise live performances and mega concerts to raise money for charities who work with orphaned childer or starving people.

Good role models can be found in stories and novels. Most literary heroes are poeple with high moral standards.

Of course there are also some everyday heroes too, like firefighter or soldiers, those people don´t hesitate to risk their lives and help to people in some verious problems such as earthquaked, floods, drought and war.

But every person when he becomes and adult, can choose the king of a person he will be – one who respects people and tries to help them in any situations or who cares only about himself. Either way one day we may become a role model for someone else. The main question is : „what type of role model will we be?
