Shop is a place where things are sold and bought. We need to do the shopping every day. It is an important part of our lives. We
need to go to the shops because we need fresh food, vegetable, fruit and other imporant things like soap or shampoo.
We have a lot of
possibilities where we can do the shopping. In small towns or villages people can do the shopping in local conveniece shop. There they can buy food,
vegetable, fruit, alcohol and magazines. In bigger towns are different types of shops. The baker´s where we buy bread, rolls and cakes; the
butcher´s where we get pork, beef, fish and poultry; the greengrocer´s where we buy fruit and vegetables. If we need the furniture, books , clothes
or shoes we can go to the furniture shop, bookshop, clothes shop or shoe shop. In large towns there are allways special types of shops called
department stores. Department store is a large shop divided into several big sections like furniture, clothes.... Under one roof we can find
everything what we want. We don´t need to visit another shops, everything we can find on one place. In large towns there are usually hypemarkets or
supermarkets. They are allways situated on the edge of the town. People can buy there large amounts of goods using a shopping trolley and it is
easier to put the things in their cars. People can also visit the big shopping malls. It is a town under one roof. There are streets, people can find
there a bank or post office, lot of shops, restaurants, pubs. In shopping malls are often held the concerts of pop groups.
People who
work in a shop are shop assistants, they served the customers, can give them advice, sell things. In department store there is allways a shop
detective who watch customers to stop them from shoplifting.
Many competitions want to attract customers. They spend a lot of money on
commercials or advertisements. We can find it everywhere, in newspapres and magazines, on TV. Big shopping centres try to influence customers with
special offers and bargains.
For many people is shopping very popular free time activity. They can spend their all free time by
shopping. They often make a shopping trips with their whole families. There are also people who hate shopping. They go to shops only sometimes for
example when they need fresh food. For me is shopping boring too. I don´t like it because it takes a lot of time.
