FREE TIME: time we have for us, not for duties at home, school, job, we do what we like, time for entertainment & fun, Importance to have relax after stress at work/school, to have work and free time separated, not to take duties home.

HOBBY: collecting objects of interests (stamps, postcards, badges, model cars/ships, napkins, coins, bottles, antiques), nowadays not so popular – children spend time playing computer games.

INTERESTS: related to work, school or from absolutely different field (sport, music, musical instrument, mode, biking, play cards, computer games, hand works…)

ORGANISED FREE TIME:

School: some schools have sport clubs, many after school activities (foreign languages, computer club, folklore group, tennis, gym…)

Out-of-school activities: mostly are paid, regular attendance (language course, musical instrument, drawing, ballet, football, hockey, tennis, dance, singing...)

Other: spending leisure time at home alone, with siblings, friends, schoolmates after school like we want

Part-time job: many young people go after school to work (earn money to spend them for clothes, travelling, disco…, new experience, new contacts for future)

FREE TIME BEFORE & NOW: spending of free time changed, before (folklore, pets, gardening, reading, hand works) nowadays (less time for free time, many duties brought home, just relaxing, TV, computer, cinema, gym, jogging...)

FREE TIME ACCORDING TO AGE: free time activities depend also on our age
Children: playing with toys, singing, drawing, playing outside in the garden, playground some games with ball…

Young people, adults: relax, biking, something to stay healthy, men – garage, do-it-yourself, women – cooking, gym, reading, gardening, favourite is shopping, disco…

Retirees (dôchodci): most free time, reading, music, hand works, gardening, pets, care of grandchildren, travelling, talking with friends, neighbours, swimming, TV…

FREE TIME ACCORDING TO SEASON:

Spring: families (time for spring cleaning – washing windows, cleaning, sorting), children (skateboards, rollerblades, biking), adults (gardening, house repairing, planting)

Summer: gardening (vegetable, fruits, glowers, mowing of green lawn…), summer holidays, festivals, fairs, amusement parks, Zoos, mountains, lake, weekends on cottage, country-house, open air swimming pools…

Autumn: gardening, barbecues, mountaineering…

Winter:  do-it-yourself projects, knitting, sewing, sledding, snowboarding, skiing, cinema, theatre…

FREE TIME ACTIVITIES: passive / active

ART: collecting, taking of photos, drawing, visiting of galleries, exhibitions...

MUSIC: listening to music, playing of musical instrument, membership in some group/choir, visiting of parties, disco...

CULTURE: cinema, theatre, concerts, watching TV…

READING: possible everywhere, book for everybody – children, youth, adventure book, love stories, crimi…

PARTY GAMES (spoločenské hry): chess, cards, quiz, domino, riddle, puzzle, crossword puzzle…

SPORT: healthy for body, for everybody, better form – football, volleyball, squash, tennis, jogging, biking…

HOUSEHOLD WORKS: useful leisure time activities – gardening, ding repairs, decorating, car maintenance, plumbing

NATURE: mountaineering, walks in a wood, picking up of mushrooms, fishing…

HAND WORKS: sewing (šitie), needlework (vyšívanie), knitting (štrikovanie), crochet (háčkovanie)…

COLLECTING: stamps, napkins, postcards, minerals…

TRAVELLING: alone/with family/friends – by travel agency/private – see, mountains, city sightseeing…

STUDY: foreign languages, computer courses…
