People carry out so many different activities in one day. One thing they never forget to do, is to eat. At once in the morning we can go to prepare breakfast - our first meal. We should keep in mind the fact that our stomach starts working at about 7 o’clock in the morning. If we leave home earlier, we can take some food with us.

Everybody likes eating something different.
Those who are not lazy, can go to the store and buy fresh baked goods (crispy rolls, buns, bread) or milk products. We can drink milk cold or warm, or we can prepare hot chocolate. More frequently we eat bread with butter and jam, processed or natural cheese, ham or different kinds of salami. In some families pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast, semolina pudding, hot sausage or even sandwiches. We must always remember that breakfast must be healthy, light and easily digestible. Every meal should include fruits (apples, pears, apricots, plums, cherries, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, currant) and vegetables (cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, radishes, dill, carrots, beans, onions, garlic, leek). Yogurt is very healthy too, as well as cereals (oat flakes and cornflakes) prepared in various ways. After every meal our body should have abundant water. During breakfast we usually drink milk, herb or fruit tea, juices, etc. At about 10 o’clock comes the time for snack. Physicians again recommend fruits or vegetables. We shouldn’t overeat, because in most cases we will be having lunch in two or three hours.

A lot of people take their meal at the local cafeteria or at the school cafeteria. I think that these places don’t pay as much attention to the nutritional value of food as we do at home. At the present time the situation is, however, slowly improving. We are beginning to cook healthier meals. Pork and beef is being replaced by poultry and fish. More vegetables are being included in meals. Soup and the main dish can be followed by dessert. Again it can be fruit, fruit salad, vegetable salad, pudding, desert, ice cream or a piece of pie. It’s healthy to drink at least one glass of mineral water, lemonade, juice, tea or beer, after each meal. In the course of a day the human body should get something about two liters of water.

It’s not good to overeat. It’s better to eat more frequently, but in small portions. That way our organism has time to digest the food and transform it into the sugars, fats and proteins that are the most important substances for our body. Through these we get the energy necessary for our vital functions. Another meal is the afternoon snack. Usually we take it at around four o’clock. We can prepare a little fruits and vegetables for our snack.

At six or seven o’clock in the evening comes time for dinner. At this time the entire family is usually together. We often prepare warm dishes. On some occasions we even go out to restaurants. It is useful to order a table in advance. In the restaurant a waiter welcomes us and leads us to our booked table, which should be already set. At the place we are to sit down, we usually find a plate. On its right side there is a knife and a spoon, on the left side there is a fork. In the upper left corner should be a glass of water. First the waiter brings drinks and then comes the soup (vegetable, fish) and the main dish (chicken with rice, breaded and fried pork chops with mashed potatoes, roasted pork with sauerkraut and dumplings). When we eat up, the waiter brings the check. We pay, add a tip for good service and then we can devoted ourselves to our other tasks. In eating we should always keep in mind our health and not just listen to our stomach and the fact that we are hungry.
