Young people and society Essay

Everyone has once been young and knows that youth is the best time of your life. Young people are strong, full of energy, don’t care about any problems and look forward to everyday in which they may try something new.

In fact, we can put young people into two groups – teenagers (from 13 to 19 years old) and those between 20 and 30. Both groups have something in common however; there are also differences between them.

Teenagers are a special group because they are neither children nor adults. As they grow up, each of them becomes an individual person with his/her own ideals. Teenagers want to live independently, sometimes have crazy ideas and often have conflicts with their parents and teachers.

Most of them attend secondary schools and prepare themselves for their future profession. Swots spend most of their free time studying, other students prefer to do more enjoyable things in their leisure time. They like going out with their friends, listening to loud music, watching TV, playing computer games, searching on internet and going to parties and discos. Girls get very excited on Friday and Saturday evenings before they go to the disco. They have never ending phone calls with their friends, talking about what clothes to wear, what make up to put on or how to do their hair.

Teenagers want to dress up in latest fashion, look and do things like pop or film stars which can drive their parents crazy. Parents want their children to concentrate on studying and doing more housework which can be very annoying for them. But to get pocket money they don’t have a problem to do the extra work.

Teenagers parents are more careful because they aware that this is a difficult age for their children and that they could be easy influenced by bad company. Taking drugs, smoking marihuana and drinking alcohol bring many problems and can destroy their life.

Young people between twenty and thirty are a bit different. Most of them have finished their studies and have found a job, so they earn their living. Many get married and have children. They are more responsible and become more aware of social problems. Single people live their independent life, work when they have a job and travel during the holiday season. Those who cannot fine a job at home can go abroad. It is not easy integrating into new country; they don’t know anyone and have to start from the absolute beginning.

Many students work for charities during their studies, sometimes by helping the disabled and homeless or by collect money for starving people in Africa and Asia. During the summer holiday they try to find a job or go to abroad to improve a foreign language as well as earning some money.

Young people have an incredible energy to fight for what they want. They take part in demonstrations demonstrating against war, terrorism, chemical weapons and racism discrimination and also for their rights.
