There are lots of reasons why people play sports. For example they need to relax, improve their health or lose their weight.

Many parents want their children to do some sport. Most children do it as a hobby, but some of them later become professionals. I think sport is very good way for children to spend free time. They can learn like to play team and fair game. They can find friends and also improve their health, what is very important in this case.

Sports can be generally divided into indoor and outdoor sports. Indoor sports are played inside, it’s for example some gymnastic or floor ball . Outdoor sports, which are played outside, are for example athletics, football, volleyball and so on. Indoor sports can be usually practised all year, but outdoor mostly in the summer. So then we can divide sports to summer and winter sports. Summer sports can be swimming, wind surfing, water skiing, sailing, cycling, beach volleyball and so on.

Winter sports can be skating, snowboarding, skiing…

Then we can divide sports to individual and team sports. Team sports are played in teams, like football or hockey.

Most popular sports are football, hockey, tennis, rugby, basketball and volleyball. In Britain they love sports. Lot of sports are originated in Britain. Most popular sport there is football and their The Cup Final.

Slovaks are good at hockey. Lots of players play in American or Canadian NHL teams. Czechoslovak hockey team was one of the best, but after split it is worse. Slovak team were the winners in 2002 year.

There is problem of doping in sport. It has a very negative effect on health. The sportsmen take anabolic steroids or hormones to be the best. During important competitions they are tested and may be disqualified. It’s bed for their career.

Two of the most important sport events are the summer and Winter Olympic Games. At first, it was only in ancient Greece. The idea of Olympic Games was revived later and now it is most important sport event.
