Catcher in the rye is short novel written by J.D.Salinger. Theme of this book is: Story of young teenager Holden Caufield , who wants to leave his family and start new life.

Story begins at Pencey high school, where Holden studied. But he has failed his class four out of five times and he recieved the notice that he is being expelled. Holden hates his school, he claims that school is full of fools and idiots. He had to leave on Wednesday, but after the conflict with his roommate he left on Sunday, but he is not planned to return home until the Wednesday. So he decided, that he stay for three days in New York.

He booked a room in a cheap hotel. He didn’t want to spend the night in the hotel room. So he goes to the bar and sits at a table, but waiter refuse to serve him. He flirts with three women, after making some jokes about his age, they leave. He calls to his old friend Sally and they arrange to meet. Holden told Sally about his plan, he wants to run away from New York and live in cottage, and offered her, that she wants to go with him.

But she refused and told him, that he is insane. Later he decided to visit his younger sister Phoebe. He was forced to admit that he was kicked out of school. Holden told her abou his plan. Holden calls to his teacher Mr.Antolini, and he invintes him to his apartment. Holden leaves Mr.Antolini and he was sleeping a few hours on trail station. On next day he Holden decided realize his plan. Holden goes to Phoebe’s school a send her a letter, that he is leaving home and that she should meet him at lunchtime.

When phoebe arrived she had a full suitcase of clothes and she asked holden to take her with him. He refus and she cries and refuses to speak to him. Holden knows she wil follow him so he goes to the ZOO. He plans to go to a new school and he doesn’t want to leave from home.
