Jobs and careers

To understand the importance of jobs and careers is to mainly be aware of what does an employment mean. Employment demonstrates the contact between two parties, one being the employer while the second one is the employee. The employer seeks a work force for which he would give financial rewards. Such contracts between these parties are documented in detail, as the employer can be a physical person or an institution.

Choosing a career is a very important step in everybody’s life. Everyone should have a set of criteria according to which it would be easy to look for and find a suitable job. As we grow older, our childish dreams of being pilots, firemen or models, singers become more and more realistic because we are coordinated by our own interests, future visions and hopes. What is more, majority of parents would like their kids to follow their footsteps. This, results in forcing children into undertaking steps they are not identified with, instead of letting them make the right decision. Each occupation should bring people joy, happiness, and satisfaction, social and moral growth. 

Looking for a job has never been easier, thanks to advertisement, internet, job agency or TV you can get enough information about any job you could possibly like. Application letter is a starter when you apply for a job, usually your CV is added to the application letter, and these documents are followed by the motivational interview. After this process, you can be either accepted or refused, this depends on how good impression you make on the interviewer. When you are skilled enough, you can choose from a scale of jobs and select the one which attracts you the most.

Unfortunately, most of the people end up doing jobs they dislike, and they visit it only for the salary. Of course, mainly, job is the source of earning money, but when this is accompanied by the good feeling of doing something you love, going to work will no more bother you, rather then bring you happiness. There are two main types of work, which differ by salary, level of education and filling of the work itself. Physical work is done by people with physical power, energy and stamina. They are specialized but their education is at low level. On the other hand, people who are doing mental work need high education and are also better paid. But, they lack physical skills.

As we are part of a company, we climb the company ladder and build our career. While jobs can be a part time affair, career is one’s journey through learning, work and other aspects of life. Our career backs up each occupation we have had, throughout our life and thanks to it, it is ease to evaluate if we are in progression or degression.

The biggest phenomenon since the economical crisis is the concept, unemployment. People, who do not have a job, are considered to be unemployed. That is when the state financially supports them, to pay the most basic payments. In these days, unemployment is a serious question even here in Slovakia, the rate increases every single day and follows this trend up to now.

“When you are good at something, do not do it for free.” Is a quote everyone should pay attention to, when looking for a suitable job. As we are provided with the freedom of choice, it is only up to us to transform our workplace into playground.
