Housing – English Vocabulary, Phrases & Examples
Describe the place where you live (is it in a house or in a flat, in a village or in a town, do you have a garden, how far is it from the local shopping and cultural facilities). Where would you like to live in the future?
I live in a flat, in a housing estate near to center. I have local shopping and cultural facilities (bank, hospital, post...) near to my flat. I live near to forrest and I have wonderfull view from my window to the whole city. I will move to a house next autumn. I will have a huge garden, near to the lake.
My housing: I live in my parent’s villa, where I own a spacious four-bedroom apartment. My apartment consist of a office, bathroom with a toilet, children’s room, converted into a walk-in closet, large living room with balcony and up the stairs I get to the attic bedroom. At the entrance to the apartment is on right workroom. I have in the work room two tables, two lamps, a comfortable chair and some shelves, in which are stored instrument, components and gemstones for jewelry making.
Compared to the workroom is large spacious bathroom with shower and lockers. The bathroom is with toilet. Next to the bathroom is a children’s room, which is temporarily converted into a walk-in closet. Living room is the most beautiful of the entire apartment. It is a self-made furniture sofa with two chairs and a table. Under furniture is fluffy carpet. The whole living room is the shades of taupe, cream and terracotta. Compared to is the old bookcase and commodes with candlesticks.
On the floor next to the commodes is a big plant. From the living room to get a twisting staircase to the attic bedroom. In the bedroom is a big bed with night tables and skylight windows. From the living room is based on a balcony that has a beautiful view of the whole village, meadows with sheeps and center of the Kosice. On the balcony are the small plates with roses and comfortable chair. I love my apartment and I’m still trying to improve it

What are the pros and cons of living in the village and in the town?
Village: Living in a village is good, because: there is more life space, silence, more privacy, big garden, possibility of growing fruits and vegetables. You can keep a bigger pets: horse, crow... Fresh air, clean nature
Bad things about living in a village are: that it is far from the town, there is lack of cultural life, bad transport, longer way to get to the job, less opportunities to find a job, only 1 small shop, less trafic, fewer cars, more work around the house, no hospitals
Town: Bad: life is busy, there is small life space, rich social life, smog, street crime, crowded, less privacy
Good: more cultural life is here and good access to the center, more restaurants, museums, shopping facilities, more job opportunities, more banks, hospitals, more schools, fitness cetrums, more universities
Explain the following saying: “Good walls make good neighbours.” Do you agree with it? Why?
Yes, I agree. Because having good relations with neighbors is very important for peaceful coexistence.
Relationships between neighbours: people have different relationships with their neighbours:
Some people get on well with their neighbours: they help each other when they need help, they visit each other and they are good friends
Some neighbours have a neutral relationships: they don’t see each other very often, they only say hello to each other when they meet.
Some neighbours have a bad relationship: they don’t like each other because they argue, usually because of land, garden… This happens especially when there is a big difference between the neighbours, for example younger and older neighbours: the older neighbours don’t like loud music and so on
Situation: Invite your friend to your place at the certain time and day. Explain to her how to get there from your school
Hello, what if we met at my favorite place near to the lake? You have to take the bus to the last stop. Then wait for the mini bus, which transports you near to the lake. I'll wait you in the summer garden near the bus stop at five pm.
