Compare shopping possibilities in our country and abroad. Give reasons why people go shopping.

In Slovakia we can do our shopping in these shopping facilities:

1.a shopping centre: for example Optima, Aupark, Dargov. SC is a large building with many smaller shops in it. SC offer many additional services: there are banks, post offices, travel agencies, cafés, restaurants and cinemas ...

2.a department store: Tesco. DS is a large store divided into several big sections -each section sells different types of things, for example clothes, furniture, household appliances... It has a car park Some of them are opened non-stop. Shopping in a DS has many advantages: you can buy everything under one roof, they usually offer lower prices

3.a supermarket: they are situated in cities and towns. People go to the supermarket to buy mostly food and drinks. It usually offers fewer goods. It has longer opening hours than small shops

4.a small shop: they usually have shorter opening hours. SS usually sell food or other things, for example you can buy books in a bookshop, shoes in a shoe shop...

5.a market: many people prefer to buy the fruit and vegetables or other things at a M. They can try to bargain and get a reduced price. In SK, products bought in markets are often cheaper than products bought in shops and supermarkets

In abroad (for example: Austria, Czech republic, Germany) are more fashion brands in the better quality. Here is more choice of products

  1. We need to do the shopping every day. It is an important part of our lives. We need to go to the shops because we need fresh food, vegetable, fruit and other imporant things like soap or shampoo.Shopping is an activity that is enjoyed by many people. There are also people who hate shopping and say that it is a waste of time. But whether people like shopping or not, they have to go to a shop, more or less frequently, to buy what they need because shopping is a necessity.

Express your opinion about the importance of services. Will or will it not grow in the future? Why?

  1. Services are an important part of a national economy and show a maturity of each country. Services include health service, educational system, trade, tourism, traffic, small services

In a post office we can send a letter or package, in a bank we can open an account; withdraw money, deposit money, in a library we can borrow books, in a restaurants we can have meals, in a optician we can have our sight checked and buy suitable glasses, in a travel agency we can choose a trip, police, petrol station, dry-cleaning, shoes repairs, photo coppie, baby-sitting, gardeners, window cleaners, electricians

  1. I think services will grow in the future, but very slowly, because Slovakia is not very interesting for more expensive or luxury fashion brand.

2.4 Situation: You are going to celebrate your birthday party. You have decided to order the party service and you have a meeting with an agent working for the ´ Turn-Key Party Agency´ and tell him what you want, ask about the price list, special offer, express your idea of it (e.g. the place, food and drinks, the possible number of guests)
