Discuss why people usually have hobbies.
Give some examples of very expensive hobbies, very useful hobbies or time-consuming hobbies, etc.
Leisure time can be defined as the time in which people don't have to work, time when they can do what they like, it is the time of entertainment and fun. Hobbies can be divided into active, passive, spread, rare, expensive, cheap, intellectual and artistic.
Passively: watching TV, reading the newspaper,magazine or books, playing computer games, surfing the Internet.Some people use their free time to relax, either actively: grow fruit and vegetables, projects around to house, knitting and sewing, going to the local rink, pond to play some hockey, sledging after a fresh snow, attending the theatre, concerts, art exhibitions and the cinema, spring cleaning, skateboards, rollerblades and bikes, hiking, rock climbing, long walks in the woods looking for mushrooms, festivals, fairs, amusement parks, zoo.
Many families prefer the more peaceful atmosphere of a day in the mountains, woods, countryside, or by a river, lake, go to their cabins or cottages.. People like going out with friends for a drink in a pub, dancing the night away at happening club. Many people spend hundreds of hours every year learning foreign languages. For some people hobby means collecting objects of interests –stamps, postcards, badges, model cars or ships, coins, beetles, bottles, antiques.
Types of hobbies:
Arts: dancing, drawing, literature, orchestra, painting, poetry, reading, sculpture, singing, theatre, writing
Collections: autographs, beetles, butterflies, buttons, coins, dolls, insects, leaves, rocks, shells, stamps, toy cars
Handicraft: basket weaving, bookbinding, carving, ceramics, cooking, crocheting, gardening, jewellery, knitting, lace, leather craft, model airplanes, model railroad, model ships, photography, pottery, puppets, sewing, toys, woodworking
Other activities: go to the cinema/ the theatre/ the pub/ the club/ a café, go for a meal/ a walk/ a run/ a swim, go shopping/ sailing/ camping, have a party/ a barbecue, meet up with somebody, go out with your boy/girlfriend , keep pets, gathering mushrooms

Our school offers a variety of extracurricular activities.
In our school there are some hobby groups: the volleyball basketball team, the computer club and the theatre group, school magazine, students can also help with the editing the magazine, clay modelling, wood carving, embroider, go to a fitness club (play tennis), walking in the air (go to the park, woods, river), hikes along the river/in the mountains, going to large parties with lots of action (music and dancing with much food and drink), have a chat, social games like chess, cards, paint/ play computer games/ chat on the netteame
What do you like doing in your free time? How much time do you spend on your hobby?
I don‘t have much free time, but I have a lot of hobbies. I have many different types of hobbies. When I was very young, I spend my time playing with toys. When I get older I start with my first hobbies. I learned play on the flute and piano, I went to dance school, go to the mountains. As I get older my hobbies are listen to music, go to the theatre, go to the concert, walking with my dogs near to river, like reading a books and watching movies. My big hobby now is make jewellery from the gemstone. The main goal of my hobbies is to give myself enjoyable break from my everyday work.
