A car is not a car without wheels. Wheels were inventide long before cars. Wheels first appearer in ancient Messopotamia about 5000 years ago. For a very long time carts and wagons were moved by animals or men. In 1705 the Englishman Thomas Newcomen patented the first steam engine. In 1763 a Frenchman Nicolas Cugnot attached a steam engine to a wagon. It was the first automobile. Then there were many men in history who gunpowder and oil until the first gasoline automobile was built. It happened in America in 1897 and constructors were Charles and Frank Durye. It took many years and many other inventions from many countries to develop the modern automobile. No one person and one country can claim all the credit.

For special reason, England made almost no automobile  inventions at first. Until 1896 there was an English law that discouraged the use of automobiles. The  law required a man to carry a red flag and walk ahead of any vehicle that was driven by a motor.

The development of cars has necer stopped. New designs are constructed and the technical parameters are always better.  There are more and more cars every year on our roads. And there are a lot of problems concerning cars. Road accidents and ecology are the most important. Car producers think about them and develop new safety equipment, ecological unleaded gasoline fuel saving programs ...etc.

Every year the latest models of cars are introduced at the international Autosalons, where you can see the latest developments in the car industry.
