Young people and society
When we speak about young people it doesn’t include only teenagers from 13 till 19 but also young adults from 20 till 30. Generally young people are stronger, healthier, more optimistic, enthusiastic, happier, because they aren’t as much influenced by problems in society as old generation and don’t take life very seriously, they just enjoy time. They don’t have so many duties as their parents, they don’t have to look after family, earn money and pay bills. Their main role in household is usually to tidy up and clean their children’s room, take rubbish out, dust, wash dishes, go to the shop, but they do mostly small shopping - only basic food stuff, then to feed a dog and to look after younger siblings. Among their duties there belongs also going to school and doing homework. They want to be more independent from their parents and want to start doing own decisions, the first important decision in their life is the choice of secondary school (later also university).

They are influenced by people, who live with them, spend with them their free time and also by television. All these things influence how they look like, what they wear, how they speak and spend free time. Young people join together and create smaller or bigger groups based on their common interests and hobbies. They do different activities together such as talking about problems and trying new things, what can be sometimes dangerous (they drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes).  Young people in general want to be free and do what they want, they like watching TV, listening to music, playing computer games, chatting with friends, going to disco and concerts, doing different kinds of sport, playing musical instrument and reading books. Girls usually do aerobics so that they keep fit and look attractive, listen to music, read books or magazines, go to bars, disco or cinema with friends and boys spend their free time by doing sports - they mostly play very popular football or basketball, go skiing, cycling or they watch together ice - hockey matches.

Image is for many young people really important,
sometimes it expresses their opinions, attitudes to society, music, which they listen. Some of them wear clothes, which they like, feel good in and they aren’t interested in fashion trends, but some follow these fashion trends so that they want to be “in”. Girls wear mostly shirts or T-shirts and jeans, especially very popular hip trousers, then skirts (it depends on the weather) and also different kinds of accessories such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings, chains, belts, tattoos, but only henna tattoos, and sunglasses on the top of head, watches aren’t so necessary. Very typical for girls is also make up and dyeing of hair. Boys wear tight and lose clothes such as sweat shirts and jeans, in which they feel very comfortably. Some of them dye hair and wear earrings but only one.

Young people between 20 and 30 are a bit different. Some of them continue their study at university or have finished schools and their problems are different from those of teenagers - they have to find a job, a place to live, if they have enough money and don’t want to live together with their parents, but it’s very difficult and when they start to have own family, they have to solve different problems.

Differences between young people and older generation are big, what can cause frictions (trenice) between them. Adults consider teenagers as lazy, rude, irresponsible, easy-going, nasty, noisy, not sensitive enough and according to them the young don’t appreciate things. Parents usually don’t like loud music or fashion style of their child. Many adults judge young people according to their clothes. Then there are big problems with money, teenagers get some pocket money, but mostly it isn’t enough for them - they don’t have as much money as they would have. There are several ways how to get money - from parents, grandparents, part-time jobs or they steal things, what isn’t the best solution. The next problem is spending free time - parents often don’t agree with way, how they spend it. There aren’t many possibilities how to spend free time, society doesn’t create them therefore young people are often bored, don’t know what to do so they try new things - especially drugs and alcohol because of influence their friends or they think it can solve their problems and there is a possibility to become an addict because of feelings, which they got from it and they think they can control it, but it isn’t true. Parents would be happier if their children spent more time at home and studied more. They are usually too demanding, they want their children to bring home only good marks.

Teenagers don’t have problems only with parents but also with their teachers. Their rude behavior can be influenced by friends and family, films, music, computer games and results of changing society - rich teenagers think they can do whatever they want. Young people are full of ideals, have a lot of dreams and wishes. They usually want to be very successful, have a good job, make own career and earn a lot of money, they are really ambitious, some of them want to work abroad, travel a lot, get to know new people and countries, have own family - usually two children, which they want to grow up other way like their parents. They want to live in more secular society without crime and corruption and possibilities of war and terrorism.
