Travelling is very popular in the 21st century. There are many reasons for it, for instance:
tourism, especially during holiday.
-  people want to see interesting places of the world- castles, palaces, ruins, churches ... some people travel on business, other for political or cultural reasons, for scientific purposes or for participation in sport events.

Travelling by car
Almost every family of today owns car. Travelling by car is quite convenient because the car can take us relatively quickly to wherever we want to go at the moment. Another advantage is that we can stop where we want and when we want.!! As drivers we have to respect some rules. This kind of travelling is very fast and expensive but not very safe because the roads are full of cars, there are a lot of traffic jams. In spite of these facts, many people consider motoring as a pleasure for them.

Travelling by train
It is one of the most common forms of travelling. The trains are used daily by many people to and from school or work.  This travelling has many advantages. First of all there are no stressful traffic jams, and trains are fast and comfortable. You can just sit and read, work , sleep, walk, have a meal or a snack in the buffet car or watch the world go by. However, travelling by train also has some disadvantages. Firstly it is expensive and the trains are sometimes crowded and delayed. Secondly you must travel at certain times and use other transport to get to the railway station. Despite the disadvantages I prefer travelling by train to travelling by car because I feel more relaxed when I reach my destination. We know slow trains, which stop at every station and fast train; they don’t stop at every station. There are also sleeping cars and dining cars in fast trains that make travelling by train more pleasant.

Travelling by bus
Another popular means of transportation is the bus. It is travelling for long as well as short distances. Buses are often crowded, there are a lot of accidents, traffic jams (unsafe travelling)and are often delayed. On the other hand this travelling is fast, the prices of tickets are quite good .At present buses are usually equipped with better seats, dark glasses against the sun, air – conditioning, television, radio and often with a toilet as well. Some buses often offer travellers food and drinks. In such conditions even a long trip can be rather pleasant.
There are typical buses in London: single decker buses, double decker buses. They are very popular with visitors of London. Both are red colour.

Travelling by underground
It is one of the fastest means of transport, especially in short distances. If you want to get to most places very quickly take the underground. At the underground station you buy a ticket at ticket offices or from automatic machine, paying according to the distance you wish to travel. It is very fast, cheap and safe.

Travelling by plane
It is travelling for long distances. It is exciting, fast, comfortable, relatively safe, and very expensive. Travelling by plane has become one of the most important means of transport.

Travelling by ship
On the ship we will spend more time than in plane. It is very comfortable, clean, safe and expensive. The possibility of sickness from the waves is also taken into account.

Hitch – hiking
It is for people who love fun and adventure. It is a very special type of travelling. Mostly young people who are not afraid of taking risk use it. There are some disadvantages of this travelling: our money can be stolen, girls can be raped.

If we decide to travel by one of these means of transport we can also use services of travel agencies. They will take care of our accommodation, transportation, health insurance, accident and baggage insurance. It is very important to have valid passport if we travel abroad.
