Finding a job

“At this time adaptable people open to new options will be in great demand”

After you have made your individual choice and you chose your future job for which you have got assumptions, then it´s time to look on your future employer and after some free positions in job market. There are several ways to find a job position :

a)  You can go through the classifieds (job advertisements in newspapers and magazines or on the internet)
b)  You can ask your friends and acquaintances if they know about any job vacancies
c)   You can register yourself in an employment exchange or go to work finding agency to ask for a help
d) Another way to be employed is to be a self-employed, but before you´ll choose this type of job you must have enough money to start a business

When you find a job you’re interested in you have to get some information what skills and requires are necessary for this job. you have to contact your future employer either by post, telephone, fax or e-mail and you find out if the position is still free. Then you should write an application. An inevitable part of the application is a curriculum vitae in which you include all necessary information: your personal data and details about your education background and qualifications. It should contain personal details, work experience and further training or other special skills or abilities which are relevant. The next step is sending your CV, along with application and cover letter (a letter that offers more detailed information about you), to your potential employer. The aim of application is to get an interview. The interview is very or the most important stage in the procedure of getting a job. You can gain but also lose a lot.

3. INTERVIEW
The interview is very or the most important stage in the procedure of getting a job so don´t forget to prepare for that all-important job interview. You can gain but also lose a lot. During the interviewer it is very important not only what you wear and the first impression you make but also the way you communicate to the interviewer. For that all it is very important to dress up for the interview to get across a responsible attitude, to calm down before the interview for example by having a coffee and, of course, to turn up at the interview a couple of minutes early and speak up and express yourself clearly. In each case you should never make out you understand something if you don´t.

4. AMOUNT AND FORM OF AN INCOME
The salary assessed according to your qualifications, length of experience and work of course. Here goes – higher position = higher income. On average in our country is usual that a woman in the same function as a man, gets lower salary. It may be taken like discrimination but it is still normal for majority. In Slovakia we receive salaries in a month. Pay in a week is called wage and it is common for countries like Britain and the USA.

5. HIRING TO A JOB
If you are lucky or rather good enough and get the job become employees of a company, firm or other institution. You sign a work contract which clearly states the job description, duties and responsibilities, working time, salary and so on. Then you start working and you have to learn how to get on with your workmates. Be aware of the fact that it may take some time to get used to a new working environment, too.

6. FIRING FROM A JOB
If your employer is not satisfied with yours working results, or you do not comply yours working obligations you can be given a sack. But in case maybe financial crisis, or if your working position is not more in demand, or if a factory / firm / company is repealed you are make a redundant. In this case an employer have to pay to you a severance.

7. UNEMPLOYMENT
Today can be unemployed really everyone. Whether young people after ending theirs professional school, or university, people who lost  theirs job, or people who still want to work but they are on retire. They all can be register in an employment exchange and wait or looking a job on their own. They are on a dole and they should be given allowance for chores.

7.1 Labour market
The labour market is bigger for us, however there is a transition period with many EU countries. Nowadays, in all position highly qualified people are needed, also experience is required. It is also very important to learn foreign languages. Unfortunately, many states do not accept our universities and if they do, it is pretty hard to get a job in some firm. On the other hand foreigners can easily find a job or establish a company in Slovakia because of deficit of vacancies. Education is very important because young people with higher or university education, have a better chance of finding a job to their satisfaction. Ability to work with computer is indispensable nowadays. If you want to improve your knowledge and learn new technologies involving to your job, you can requalify yourself by studying at evening courses. It is very difficult but many people overcome this life trial and then they can be satisfied with their work

7.2 Unemployment in Slovakia
Unemployment is a big problem in our country. Nowadays there is a lot of unemployed people. We don’t have enough vacancies, salaries are low, income taxes and social deliveries are very high. Many graduates can’t find a job. They leave abroad because of better income and foreign language improving. It is better for them then stay at home and be jobless. They get the unemployment benefits but it is not much so this should motivate them to work and not stay out of work. There is a big problem in Eastern Slovakia, where unemployment is much higher than in the western part of the country. This is mainly caused by the lack of good infrastructure and the lack of investments in the region.  There is also a problem with gypsies who don’t want to work but they want to get money. If you finally manage to find a job, you will have to solve some new problems. People sometimes can’t afford to have a children because they wouldn’t have enough time or woman would have to take maternity leave and maybe she would lose her job. Work is very exhausting and this can be reflected into family life. People who get a pension can work in our society. It is not often to see but it is possible. In our society are also people who cannot work because of their age or they’re disable. They are on retire. They must be supported by the state so they get a pension.
